The World Bank Group announced separate conditional-release debarments for two Nigeria-based contractors over fraudulent practices connected to development projects. Bruke Lonia Nigeria Limited was debarred for 40 months over the Ibadan Urban Flood Management Project. Idmon Engineering and Construction Company Limited received a 48-month debarment tied to that project and the Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project.

The decisions affect the companies’ eligibility for World Bank-financed contracts during the sanction periods, subject to the Bank’s conditional-release requirements. These are administrative sanctions under the Bank’s procurement and integrity system, not criminal convictions.

The cases underscore the importance of procurement oversight in projects intended to reduce flood and erosion risks. The Bank’s releases do not establish wrongdoing by project beneficiaries or Nigerian public agencies.
