Updated Oct. 23, 2026: Nigeria’s aviation minister directed the country’s aviation authority to notify airlines that 46 people linked to the confirmed Ebola case should not fly for 21 days. Nigerian outlets Channels Television and Premium Times reported that the list comprises 44 people who encountered the patient at a hospital after she developed symptoms, plus two domestic staff. The measure is intended to support contact monitoring; it does not mean those people have tested positive.
Health officials have said the patient is receiving care and showing signs of improvement. The health minister said authorities had not found evidence of community transmission and saw no current public-health basis to cancel large gatherings. A possible travel overlap with Kenya’s index patient at Entebbe remains under investigation; officials have not established it as the source of either infection.
