Updated Oct. 23, 2026: Taiwan’s Central Emergency Operations Center reported one death and 94 injuries in its latest count. The Associated Press separately cited a figure of more than 170 injuries; the totals differ, and the reason for the gap is not clear from the published accounts. The official count also recorded more than 2,600 people evacuated from vulnerable areas.
Taiwan’s Central News Agency reported that 977 flights and 96 ferry sailings had been canceled or suspended by Friday morning. AP reported the typhoon’s center was forecast to pass offshore, while its outer effects reached southwestern Japan, where one person was injured and flights and power service were affected. Conditions and disruption reports may continue to change.
