Nigeria’s National Drug Law Enforcement Agency says it arrested a 34-year-old man in Lagos after tracing a 1.2-kilogram cocaine shipment concealed in phone chargers and addressed to Riyadh. The agency alleges the suspect used a herbal-tea business as a cover; the allegation has not been tested in court.

NDLEA said the arrest was part of coordinated operations across nine states. The agency also reported finding 966,200 tramadol tablets in cargo at Lagos airport, more than two tonnes of cannabis in a concealed compartment of a fuel tanker in Ondo State, and other opioid, methamphetamine and cannabis seizures. Those quantities are agency figures and have not been independently audited.

The suspect is entitled to the presumption of innocence on any new charge. NDLEA said he had previously been convicted in a separate 2011 trafficking case, but that prior conviction does not establish guilt in the current allegations.
