Indonesian search-and-rescue teams expanded operations after the KM Virgo Transport 8 sank in waters near South Kalimantan. Authorities said dozens of passengers and crew were rescued, while teams continued looking for people whose status remained unresolved.

The Transport Ministry directed responders to prioritize passenger evacuation and coordinate vessels and aircraft in the search area. Police said investigators would also examine the ferry’s condition and voyage records.
