Brazil will hold a presidential runoff on October 25 between President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, the country’s Superior Electoral Court confirmed after nearly all first-round ballots were counted.

The electoral authority reported Bolsonaro with 47.03% of valid votes and Lula with 45.16%. Because neither candidate crossed the majority threshold, voters will return to the polls for a second round. The contest will decide the presidency and vice presidency, while several state governor races will also go to runoffs.

The TSE said voting is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Brasília time. Official results and election procedures remain under the authority of Brazil’s electoral courts.
