Updated July 14, 2026, 7:00 p.m. CT — President Donald Trump said in a Fox News interview that U.S. forces planned to strike Iran for at least two more nights. He also threatened attacks on bridges and power plants as soon as next week unless negotiations resume.
The statement is a material escalation in declared intent, but it is not confirmation that every threatened target will be attacked. Military plans can change, and attacks on infrastructure would raise additional civilian-protection and international-law concerns. Genuine Update will distinguish announced plans from actions independently confirmed after they occur.
Earlier Tuesday, the U.S. military said it had renewed its blockade around the Strait of Hormuz as American strikes targeted Iranian coastal defenses and missile, drone, and maritime capabilities. Trump also dropped a proposed 20 percent payment plan for ships seeking passage after Gulf partners objected.
The danger has spread beyond statements and airstrikes. Iran launched attacks toward Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan, while three tankers came under attack in or near the strait. The International Maritime Organization said attacks on two United Arab Emirates-associated tankers killed two mariners and wounded 14. Responsibility and the full sequence of every incident remain under investigation.
The renewed blockade, tanker attacks, and prospect of further strikes increase the risk to crews, energy supplies, and regional civilians. Negotiations may still alter the timeline, so this story will be updated only when military action, diplomacy, or verified damage materially changes the picture.
