Texas recorded the largest numerical payroll gain among the states in June, according to estimates released Tuesday by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Nonfarm employment in the state increased by 43,400 jobs from May, a 0.3 percent rise.\n\nOnly three states posted statistically significant monthly job gains: Texas, Minnesota and New Hampshire. West Virginia registered a significant decrease. The national unemployment rate was 4.2 percent, little changed over both the month and the year.\n\nTexas also had the largest numerical increase over the year, adding an estimated 177,900 jobs from June 2025. That amounted to 1.2 percent growth.
