A large overnight Russian missile-and-drone attack struck cities across Ukraine on July 30, sending residents into shelters and prompting a new investigation in neighboring Poland.

The Associated Press reported that Ukrainian officials attributed at least eight civilian deaths and more than 50 injuries to the barrage. Those figures were preliminary and came from Ukrainian authorities; access to some affected locations remains limited, and Genuine Update has not independently verified the full toll.

Polish authorities said a suspected cruise missile entered Polish airspace and came down in a rural area without reported injuries. The exact weapon and its flight path were still under investigation at the time of publication. Ukraine’s foreign minister described the object as a Russian Kh-101 missile, but that identification should be treated as a claim until Poland’s investigation is complete.

The incident matters beyond the immediate damage because Poland is a NATO member. It also follows a pattern of large attacks on Ukrainian cities that the United Nations discussed at a Security Council briefing on July 27, where officials again stressed the obligation to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure.
