Texas has extended the deadline for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program recipients in Bexar County to request replacement benefits for food lost or destroyed during recent storms and power outages. Eligible households now have until September 17, 2026, to report the loss.

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission said the U.S. Department of Agriculture approved expanding the normal reporting window from 10 days to 20 days. Approved replacement funds should be added to Lone Star Cards within two business days. Recipients may call 2-1-1, choose a language and select option 7, or visit a local HHSC office.

The extension applies to replacement of food already purchased with SNAP benefits; it is not a general increase in monthly benefits. WIC clients who lost food bought with September benefits may separately contact their WIC office by September 30.
